Dispute Resolution

Dispute resolution

Disputes are an inevitable part of commercial and personal relationships. Whether arising from a contractual disagreement, a failed transaction, a corporate conflict or an infringement of rights, their consequences can extend well beyond the immediate legal issues. Financial exposure, business continuity, commercial relationships and reputation may all be at stake. Resolving such matters requires sound judgment, careful preparation and a strategy tailored to each case.

Dispute resolution is a fundamental part of our work. We represent businesses, investors, entrepreneurs and private individuals in litigation before the Greek courts, domestic and international arbitration, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Our experience encompasses contractual, corporate, maritime and intellectual property disputes, as well as family, employment, inheritance, property and other private-client matters.

We represent clients throughout court proceedings, from assessing claims and preparing pleadings to hearings, appeals and enforcement. We also advise on interim and protective measures, including injunctions, temporary court orders, asset preservation and other forms of urgent judicial relief.

Arbitration is an important part of our work, particularly in international commercial and maritime matters. We advise and represent clients in institutional and ad hoc proceedings, including arbitrations under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the terms of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA). Our work covers arbitration agreements, the appointment of arbitrators, the conduct of proceedings and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.

Not every dispute is best resolved through formal proceedings. Mediation, negotiations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution can offer advantages in terms of confidentiality, cost, speed and the preservation of commercial relationships. We advise on the most appropriate course of action, recognising that a negotiated outcome may better serve the client’s interests.

Our dispute resolution work includes:

  • Civil and commercial litigation before Greek courts.

  • Domestic and international arbitration, including LCIA, LMAA, ICC and ad hoc proceedings.

  • Mediation, settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution.

  • Cross-border and multi-jurisdictional disputes.

  • Interim measures, temporary court orders and asset preservation.

International dispute resolution is an important part of our practice. We advise on jurisdiction, applicable law and the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards. Where proceedings must be pursued or defended abroad, we coordinate with trusted local counsel, overseeing the strategy and progress of the matter while ensuring that clients retain a single, consistent point of contact through our firm.

Our involvement often begins before formal proceedings become necessary. We assess potential claims, identify remedies, evaluate risks and develop an appropriate strategy. Early intervention can be decisive in preserving evidence, protecting assets, preventing further losses or creating opportunities for settlement.

We recognise that disputes can be demanding, both financially and personally. We therefore place particular importance on clear communication, keeping clients informed and ensuring that they understand their options.

Our commitment is to pursue the most effective resolution for each client, not simply to pursue proceedings for their own sake. Where litigation is necessary, we protect our clients’ interests before courts and arbitral tribunals. Where a negotiated outcome better serves their objectives, we pursue it with equal determination.
